On yesterday's fight night, Erik “BZO” Bazinyan (29-0, 21 KOs), the undefeated NABF and NABA Super Middleweight champion from Armenia squared off against the former WBC US Middleweight champion and world championship contender Alantez "SlyAza" Fox (28-4-1, 13 KOs) from Upper Marlboro, Maryland in the main event at Montreal Casino in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
As Bazinyan advanced in the opening two rounds, Fox executed an efficient jab that utilized the ring well, ending both rounds with an overhand right. Fox's shot in the third round gave Bazinyan considerable puffiness beneath his left eye. Throughout the round, Bazinyan repeatedly delivered rights to Fox's chin in an effort to overpower the taller Fox.
In the opening seconds of the seventh round, Bazinyan landed on the chin with a powerful combination that caught Fox's attention. This was the finest round Bazinyan has had. Fox was held for most of the rounds eight and nine by Bazinyan, who outworked him. The tenth and final round was the best of the fight. At the start Bazinyan hooked up with a solid right hand to Fox's chin, setting the tone for the majority of it. In the closing seconds, Fox attempted to steal the round with a series of punches, but there weren't enough of them to succeed and as a result, Erik Bazinyan pulled out a majority decision win.
In the co-main event, Former IBF Intercontinental champion Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela (26-3-1, 16 KOs) stopped Yves Ulysse Jr. (22-3, 12 KOs) at 0:52 of the first round in their ten-round fight.
Ulysse was knocked down in the opening round after taking an uppercut, which was quickly followed by another brutal right uppercut from Valenzuela to the chin. Referee Martin Forest had to stop the fight because of Ulysse's shaky effort to stand up.
In the undercard, Avery “The Future” Martin Duval (9-0-1, 5 KOs) stopped Eduardo “El Huracan” Mota Garcia (7-2-1, 2 KOs), Christopher Guerrero (6-0, 2 KOs) scored 3 knockdowns to stop Edwin Villarreal Flores (3-1-1, 3 KOs), Alexandre Gaumont (7-0, 5 KOs) got a win over Carlos “Ruso” Gallego Montijo (8-5, 6 KOs) and well-proclaimed 18-year-old Wilkens Mattieu (1-0, 1 KOs) made a spectacular debut by landing 3 knockdowns to Zsolt Birkas (0-1-1).
