Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ planned return to boxing has become even more uncertain after reports that an arrest warrant has been issued for him in Maryland.

The warrant is reportedly connected to Davis’ probation from a 2020 hit-and-run case, with a Baltimore judge reviewing his recent legal situation in Florida and ruling that he violated probation terms. Davis is currently facing felony kidnapping and misdemeanor battery counts linked to a video-recorded confrontation with a former domestic partner in Florida.

The legal situation comes at a time when Davis has already been ordered by the WBA to face top lightweight contender Floyd Schofield Jr. However, according to a boxing official connected to the situation, no serious talks have taken place for that fight yet.

Davis has not fought since his March 2025 draw with Lamont Roach Jr., and while his name has been linked to several possible comeback opponents, his legal problems continue to overshadow the boxing side.

Richard Wolfe, the civil attorney involved in the Florida case, said he is also preparing to bring Davis into court over financial matters tied to potential damages. “Effective this week, we can bring him to court,” Wolfe said. “My case is damages, punitive damages… his punishment has to be commensurate with his net worth.”
