Sunday event will be a must watch, especially for polish boxing fans, as Knockout Boxing Night 39 plants the WBC interim bridgerweight championship at Arena Kalisz. Two home-grown contenders: former two-time cruiserweight ruler Krzysztof “Diablo” Włodarczyk and No. 1-ranked challenger Adam Balski, collide in the main event of the 8-bout card promoted by KnockOut Promotions.
Włodarczyk (65-4-1, 44 KOs) can become Poland’s first three-division titlist; the 42-year-old veteran already owns WBC and IBF cruiser belts on a résumé stretching back to 2000. Opposite him stands Balski (20-2, 12 KOs), the gritty Kalisz native whose rise through bridgerweight has earned top billing and a chance to capture a maiden world strap in front of his hometown crowd. The winner becomes mandatory to full WBC champion Kevin Lerena later in the year.
The WBC’s bridgerweight division (224-lb limit) was introduced in 2020 to bridge the gap between cruiser and heavyweight; Sunday’s all-Polish showdown is its most high-profile contest yet on European soil.
