Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg will be buzzing with boxing action as the headline act of the evening will be the undefeated Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas Jr. (11-0, 11 KOs), son of the iconic world champion, and he will take center stage against the Colombian stalwart Luis Eduardo Florez (26-28, 21 KOs) in a six-round Jr. welterweight main event.
In the co-main event of the evening, 23-year-old Amado Vargas (8-0, 3 KOs) is set to face Colin Huntington (2-2, 1 KO). This marks Vargas' fourth fight of 2023, following a TKO-win against Mario Valdivia on March 11, as well as unanimous decision victories over Printice Canada and Bernardo Manzano on April 15 and May 13, respectively.
Adding to the evening’s allure, ex-WBC Super Bantamweight world champion and esteemed Featherweight Brandon Figueroa will attend as a special guest.
In the undercard, unbeaten featherweight Nathan Rodriguez (11-0, 7 KOs) is set to square off against Jonas Castillo (6-6, 5 KOs) of Nicaragua in an enthralling six-round bout. The local boxing scene will also be well represented with two of Texas’ bright talents. Xavier Bocanegra (2-0, 1 KO) from the Rio Grande Valley, known for his knockout prowess, is making a comeback after a year-long hiatus due to a hand injury. He’s gearing up to face Julian Yanez (2-5-1, 1 KO), another Rio Grande Valley talent.
