Felix Sturm will bring his long boxing career to a close on July 11, when he faces Granit Stein at the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart in a farewell event billed as “One Last Dance.” The former world champion returns for one final night after 35 years in the sport, determined to leave boxing on his own terms.
“I am saying goodbye to boxing - boxing is not saying goodbye to me,” Sturm said ahead of the fight. That sentence defines the tone of the event: this is not a comeback push, a world title chase or a ranking move, but a controlled final chapter in front of a German crowd.
Stein is more than just a symbolic farewell opponent. He enters with a 20-2-1 record, while Sturm is listed at 45-6-3 with one no contest. Sturm brings experience, and ring intelligence, while Stein brings youth, activity and the chance to turn an emotional night into a career-changing win.
Sturm was one of the defining names of the country’s major TV boxing era, with big domestic events, world title nights and international moments, including his controversial 2004 defeat to Oscar De La Hoya in Las Vegas.
