Pedro "Kid Pedro Heneral" Taduran (16-4-1, 12 KOs), a top contender in the minimumweight division, is set to face off against the current International Boxing Federation (IBF) world champion Ginjiro Shigeoka (11-0, 9 KOs) in Otsu City, Shiga, Japan.
Taduran secured his shot at the world title after defeating Jake Amparo from PMI Bohol Boxing Stable with a unanimous decision last December in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Interestingly, Amparo had previously stepped in as a late replacement for ArAr Andales earlier this year and faced Shigeoka in a title defense match on March 31 in Nagoya, Japan. Unfortunately for Amparo, he lost to Shigeoka by knockout in the early rounds.
Now, Taduran is determined to make his mark as a world champion once again. His goal is to unseat Shigeoka and reclaim the IBF world minimumweight title that he held back in 2019. Despite losing the title twice to Rene Mark Cuarto in their intense rivalry, the 27 year old fighter from Libon, Albay has fought his way back up the rankings for another chance at championship glory. .
On the other hand, Shigeoka, who is 24 years old, is set to defend his title for the second time since claiming it from Cuarto last year.
