Fight Details

Erick Rosa (6-0, 2 KOs) is set to demonstrate his prowess against Mexico’s Yudel Reyes (16-2, 8 KOs). The former WBA strawweight titlist, Rosa, is moving up from 105 to 108 pounds, signaling his intent to dominate a new weight class. This transition will be showcased in a twelve-round headliner on the April 5 Triller TV event, emanating from the Pabellon de Esgrima in Centro Olimpico, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Rosa's journey in the strawweight division included notable victories, such as an eighth-round knockout over Orlando Pino in his latest bout at the same location last August. Despite achieving success, Rosa encountered challenges in defending his title and securing a mandatory title fight against Thammanoon Niyomtrong. Faced with these obstacles, Rosa opted to move up to the junior flyweight division.

Belgica Peña, the head of Shuan Boxing and Rosa’s promoter, has high hopes for Rosa’s debut at 108 pounds. She believes this fight could be his first step towards becoming a world champion at this weight, with ambitions to target the WBA Gold championship. The division promises exciting potential matchups, including bouts against elite fighters like Kenshiro Teraji, the Ring, WBC, and WBA junior flyweight champion, Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez, the WBO titleholder, and IBF champion Sivenathi Nontshinga.

Yudel Reyes enters this match with momentum, having rebounded from a knockout loss with a win in Monterrey, his hometown. This fight marks Reyes’ second appearance in the Dominican Republic, following a victory in a ten-round regional title match in April 2022 at the same venue.
