BREAKING: Angelo Leo’s IBF featherweight title defense against Ra’eese Aleem has been canceled after Aleem missed weight by 2.8 lbs, coming in at 128.8 lbs for the 126-pound title limit. Aleem later weighed 128 lbs on his second attempt, but the bout was officially called off.
Following the cancellation of Angelo Leo vs Ra’eese Aleem, undefeated light heavyweight prospect Atif Oberlton (15-0, 13 KOs) has been moved into the main event against experienced veteran Carlos Gongora (22-3, 17 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round clash.
Oberlton enters the fight as one of the rising names in the light heavyweight division. The 27-year-old Philadelphia native is coming off a dominant first-round performance against Joseph George earlier this year, although the bout ended in unusual circumstances after George collapsed in his corner between rounds. Oberlton has stopped 13 of his 15 opponents and now faces the toughest test of his career.
Gongora brings experience and proven durability into the matchup. The Ecuadorian southpaw, now based in Boston, owns notable wins over Ali Akhmedov and Christopher Pearson, while his recent defeats have come only against top contenders Lester Martinez and Christian Mbilli. Saturday’s fight will also mark Gongora’s debut at light heavyweight.
