Fight Week for Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford is set to deliver more than just the blockbuster main event. On Wednesday, September 10, the BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas will host a special Public Workout card, featuring five undercard bouts designed to keep fans buzzing ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
At super middleweight, Kazakhstan’s unbeaten Bek Nurmaganbet (14-0, 12 KOs) faces Massachusetts contender Steven Sumpter (11-1-1, 9 KOs). Nurmaganbet comes in off a blistering first-round stoppage in April, while Sumpter has rebuilt momentum this year with two knockout wins.
The night also includes Cuba’s Brayan Leon Salgado (8-0, 7 KOs) against Washington’s Devontae McDonald (8-5, 2 KOs) in another super middleweight bout, plus a flyweight clash between the UK’s Mikie Tallon (9-0, 1 KO) and Mexico’s Christian Robles (9-3, 4 KOs). Heavyweights are also in the mix, with Cuban prospect Yoandy Toirac (3-0, 3 KOs) meeting Skylar Lacy (8-1-2, 6 KOs) of Indianapolis. Rounding out the card, Syria’s Abdullah Darkazanly (1-0) takes on Ventura’s Kody Koboski (4-2, 4 KOs) at super welterweight.
The event sets the stage for The Underdog series a day later, where WBO flyweight champion Anthony Olascuaga (9-1, 6 KOs) defends against Puerto Rico’s Juan Carlos Camacho (19-1, 8 KOs). Then, on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium, Canelo and Crawford collide in a Netflix-streamed super middleweight title fight with undisputed stakes.
