Undefeated European lightweight champion Sam Noakes (14-0, 13 KOs) is preparing to return to his knockout ways as he gears up to defend his title against mandatory challenger Gianluca Ceglia (21-4-1, 4 KOs) at the iconic York Hall in London.
This marks Noakes’ first title defense since claiming the belt with a dominant 12-round points victory over seasoned veteran Yvan Mendy, a fight that saw the 27-year-old Maidstone native go the distance for the first time in his career.

Promoter Frank Warren is enthusiastic about the upcoming card, which he describes as a showcase for the elite young talent in his stable.
"These York Hall shows are a launchpad for our young boxers, and we always ensure these development cards are topped by significant title action. Sam Noakes and Masood Abdulah are both set to headline, making it a special night of boxing."
Noakes, who trains at the iBox Gym in Bromley under the guidance of Alan Smith, is eager to add another knockout to his record and further establish himself as the best lightweight in Europe.
"I can’t wait to put on a big performance and add another KO win to my record. York Hall is becoming my home away from home, and my fans love it there. The close atmosphere matched with my high-intensity, all-action style always makes for a special night."
Ceglia, a 34-year-old Italian fighter, earned his shot at Noakes by defeating Frank Urquiaga in his previous bout. As the EBU mandatory challenger, Ceglia is expected to provide a tough test for Noakes in what promises to be an exciting clash of styles.
