Lee "Lightning" McGregor (12-0-1, 9 KOs) faces tough Mexican fighter Erik "Terrible" Robles (13-1, 9 KOs) for the vacant IBO world super bantamweight title at the Meadowbank Sports Centre in Scotland.
The upcoming Wasserman Boxing event, presented in collaboration with Ladbrokes, Numan, and Infinitum Entertainment, marks a significant moment for McGregor as it will be his first fight since joining forces with the renowned global promoter. McGregor himself has acknowledged the potentially life-changing impact of this bout.
McGregor said: “It’s a big fight, it’s a life-changing fight for me. I didn’t think it would be possible to go straight back into a big title fight like this, and so when it got put forward, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. It’s going to get the fans buzzing, get people talking about me again and so I need to go in and put on a performance to pick up this belt and add it to my collection."
However, the former bantamweight champion is well aware of the challenges posed by his opponent, Robles from Mexico. McGregor acknowledges that facing Robles is risky, anticipating a grueling and intense battle that will captivate a packed venue.
