Matchroom has confirmed that British welterweight prospect Pat McCormack will face Mexico’s Miguel Parra at Sunderland Live on September 6. The ten-round bout, streaming worldwide on DAZN, will mark McCormack’s first outing since his statement win over Robbie Davies Jr. in February.
McCormack (7-0, 5 KOs), a 2020 Olympic silver-medallist, floored Davies three times en route to a fifth-round stoppage that doubled as a British-title eliminator. Victory in front of a home-area crowd at Sunderland’s Beacon of Light would leave the 29-year-old perfectly placed for a crack at the historic Lonsdale Belt later this year.

Parra (25-5-1, 17 KOs) arrives with far greater professional experience and carries genuine power - his last three victories have all ended inside the distance. The 31-year-old from Tepic Nayarit is no stranger to springing upsets on the road, a trait British fighters have learned to respect when matching Mexican opposition.
“Pat is already closing in on domestic and European titles, but Parra is a live threat who can’t be underestimated,” promoter Eddie Hearn said when announcing the fight. “If Pat shines here, the next step is championship level.”
McCormack echoed the sentiment: “I know what Mexican fighters bring. Parra can punch, but this is my city and my night. I’m focused on putting on a clinic and then chasing that British title.”
