Lourdes Juarez will headline the next Most Valuable Prospects event, defending her WBC light flyweight title against former champion Yesica Nery Plata on October 18 in South Padre Island, Texas. The show, promoted by Most Valuable Promotions, places two women’s title fights at the forefront of the card.
Plata (30-2, 3 KOs) last fought in 2023, unifying the WBA and WBC titles with a surprise win over Kim Clavel before outpointing unbeaten Sarah Bormann. Despite her momentum, inactivity forced the WBC to elevate Juarez (38-4, 5 KOs) to champion, granting her the belt following Plata’s absence. Juarez previously reigned at super flyweight before consecutive defeats to Asley Gonzalez Macias, but now looks to establish herself in a new division.
The matchup brings intrigue not only from Plata’s return after nearly two years out, but also the potential for a lucrative rematch with Clavel should both fighters emerge victorious in their upcoming assignments. Juarez, meanwhile, will seek to prove that her title reign is more than a technicality.
The undercard adds further depth with unified IBF and WBO middleweight champion Desley Robinson (10-3, 3 KOs) set to face Logan Holler (11-3-1, 4 KOs). Bantamweights Krystal Rosado and Shurretta Metcalf will also clash in an eight-round battle, while Omar Juarez meets Omar Rosario in a super lightweight contest serving as chief support.
