Seven months after their closely contested first meeting, Badou Jack and Noel Mikaelian will run it back in a WBC cruiserweight title rematch on Saturday, December 13, at Ace Mission Studios in Los Angeles, billed as “Championing Mental Health 2: Rematch Season.”
Their first encounter, which took place on the Canelo–Scull undercard in May, ended in a controversial majority decision in favor of Jack (29-3-3, 17 KOs) allowing him to retain his WBC belt after a 26-month layoff. Mikaelian (27-3, 12 KOs) immediately appealed the verdict through promoter Don King, and the WBC later ordered a rematch, setting up another chapter in their rivalry.
The co-main event will feature two-time U.S. national amateur champion Brook Sibrian (8-2, 4 KOs) taking on Gloria Munguilla (8-2, 0 KOs), for the vacant WBC International light-flyweight title.
Elsewhere on the card, undefeated prospects Angel Lozano (7-0, 5 KOs) and Samvel Gandilyan (7-0-1, 3 KOs) look to extend their unbeaten runs in light-heavyweight and lightweight bouts, respectively. Rising Ukrainian talent Deni Davtian (4-0, 3 KOs), an unusually tall super-lightweight at 6’4”, will make his six-round debut against an opponent to be announced.
Rounding out the main lineup, California bantamweight Isaac “Lil’ Devil” Anguiano (9-1-1, 4 KOs) - whose only loss came against current IBF #12 flyweight Abraham Perez — returns in one of the card’s longer scheduled fights.
