Marco Huck (42-5-1, 28 KOs) has chosen Evgenios Lazaridis (19-5, 13 KOs) as his opponent for his comeback fight on May 20th in Braunlage. The Greek heavyweight, known as "Achilles," boasts a great record of 19 wins in 24 fights. This match marks Huck's return to the ring after a hiatus, his last bout being a points victory over Dennis Lewandowski on August 29, 2020.
Huck, a long-time cruiserweight world champion now competing in the heavyweight division, expressed relief at finalizing an opponent:
"We had several good boxers in mind, but apart from Evgenios, everyone chickened out," said Huck, who has been preparing in his Berlin boxing gym.
Acknowledging the challenge ahead, Huck noted Lazaridis's physical advantages, including a ten-centimeter height difference.
"Evgenios is definitely a tough nut to crack. If I want to box for a big title again, and I definitely want to, I need serious rivals," said Huck.
Lazaridis, who stands at 1.98 meters, has trained in Frankfurt under Frank Kiy. He moved from Greece to Germany nine years ago to pursue better training conditions.
"The fact that Marco has chosen me is an honor and shows that he is really serious about his request," Lazaridis commented. He has also been recognized for his skills by heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk, who invited him to spar in Ukraine.
