Francesco Grandelli will look to close out his year on a high when he faces Spain’s Jose Antonio Sanchez Romero on December 20 in Turin. The 31-year-old Italian featherweight continues his rebuild after a challenging 2024, and once again the WBO continental strap will be on the line.
Grandelli (20-4-2, 5 KOs) suffered back-to-back defeats last year to Nathaniel Collins and Cristobal Lorente but remained competitive in both bouts, winning rounds before dropping decisions. He has since steadied his campaign with a strong performance in June, handing Simone Rao his first professional loss via a split decision to claim the same belt he now intends to defend.
Romero (17-2-1, 6 KOs) enters the bout looking to rebound as well. Based in Finland, the 36-year-old is coming off a 12-round majority decision loss in March to unbeaten Frenchman Christ Esabe. His other notable outing ended in a 10th-round knockout defeat against Davide Tassi in 2023.
