Fight Details

Golden Boy has matched its two hottest super‑middleweight prospects in a high‑stakes WBA world‑title eliminator: unbeaten Texan Darius Fulghum (14‑0, 12 KOs) meets Uzbekistan’s 2016 Olympic silver medallist Bektemir “Bek the Bully” Melikuziev (15‑1, 10 KOs) on Friday, 30 May at The Theater, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. DAZN will stream the 12‑round main event live worldwide.

Fulghum swaps hospital scrubs for eight‑ounce gloves; the Prairie View A&M nursing graduate punched his way from 2018 National Golden Gloves gold to prospect of the year chatter with a busy 2024 that saw stoppages of Alantez Fox, Cristian Olivas, Vaughn Alexander and Christopher Pearson before a February TKO of Winfred Harris Jr.

South‑paw bruiser Melikuziev, 29, has shrugged off a shock 2021 knockout loss to Gabriel Rosado with eight straight wins, including a dominant decision in their 2023 rematch and a razor‑thin nod over David Stevens last November. Ranked No. 3 by the WBA (Fulghum is No. 4), the Uzbek sees Fulghum as “the last door to a world title.”

The victor will move to the front of the WBA queue currently headed by undisputed champion Canelo Álvarez, fresh from his May 4 clash with IBF holder William Skull. With interim champion Caleb Plant facing Jose Armando Resendiz across town the following night — and Jermall Charlo sharing that bill — Fulghum says he will be ringside “studying future opponents” once his own work is done.
