On November 10, Brighton’s boxing legacy sees a renaissance, spearheaded by none other than Harlem Eubank (18-0, 7 KOs). The highly anticipated bout, broadcast live and free-to-air on Channel 5, will witness the unbeaten super lightweight contender squaring off against the formidable German, Timo Schwarzkopf (22-5, 13 KOs), at The Brighton Centre. This matchup has a sentimental edge, marking the first Eubank bout in Brighton since the early 1990s, when Chris Eubank Senior made his iconic world title defense.
Expressing his anticipation, Harlem shared, “Boxing in Brighton, especially in front of my hometown fans, gives me goosebumps. While many believe this bout was preordained, my vision stretches beyond just one evening. I envision a series of spectacular boxing nights here. The fervent support from Brighton’s populace, combined with the enticing matchup against Schwarzkopf, guarantees an unforgettable event.”
Schwarzkopf, however, exudes confidence in derailing Harlem’s plans, saying, “People might assume Harlem’s victory is a foregone conclusion, but I have other plans. My rich experience, resilience, and boxing prowess make me a formidable opponent, and I am here to disrupt his homecoming.”
Echoing the sentiment of the evening’s significance, Kalle Sauerland, Head of Global Boxing at Wasserman Boxing, remarked, “This event is particularly special, seeing Harlem continuing the Eubank legacy in Brighton, three decades after Chris Eubank Senior’s memorable defense. This night promises not only exhilarating boxing but also an emotional connection with everyone who holds Brighton dear.”
