CES Boxing is kicking off the new year in style with “Love and War,” an action-packed card set for Saturday, February 15 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Featuring three championship matchups and appearances from some of the region’s top amateur boxers, the event promises an unforgettable Valentine’s weekend for fight fans.
Doors open at 4 pm, with amateur bouts starting at 5 pm, and tickets begin at $77.
In the main event, Lynn’s own “Speedy” Rashidi Ellis (25-1, 16 KOs) returns to the ring, squaring off against tough Ecuadorian Jose Angulo (16-9, 9 KOs) for the vacant WBC US Silver Welterweight title. Ellis, fresh off a strong run with the Team Combat League’s Boston Butchers, looked sharp in October when he headlined in his home state. Now, he’s aiming to keep his momentum going against Angulo, a rugged veteran known for pushing some notable names to their limits.
Featherweight fans are in for a treat with two thrilling title fights. Carlos Gonzalez (14-0, 13 KOs) defends his NABA Featherweight belt against Nicaragua’s Alex Espinoza (23-6-2, 8 KOs), while Providence’s Ricky de los Santos (12-1, 3 KOs) puts his WBC US Silver Featherweight championship on the line against unbeaten “King” Kevin Walsh (15-0, 8 KOs) in a New England grudge match.
Rounding out the show is a lineup packed with New England’s brightest up-and-comers. Light heavyweight Steven Sumpter (9-1-1, 7 KOs) meets Burley Brooks (7-2, 5 KOs), while Ali Feliz (4-0, 3 KOs), Amelia Moore (1-0), and Joseph “J-Elite” Chisholm (3-0, 3 KOs) continue their rise toward contention. A special amateur showcase will precede the pro card, giving fans a front-row seat to tomorrow’s stars.
