The much-anticipated world title fight between Rhiannon Dixon and Terri Harper is set to serve serve as the main event on September 28 at the Canon Medical Arena in Sheffield, England.
Originally, British heavyweight Johnny Fisher was set to headline the event against Andriy Rudenko of Ukraine, but an injury to Fisher forced the cancellation of that bout, elevating the WBO lightweight championship fight between Dixon and Harper to the main event.
Dixon and Harper were first scheduled to face off on the undercard of Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis on August 24 in Manchester. However, after the main event was postponed, their bout was moved to the Dalton Smith vs. Jon Fernandez undercard at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena. When the Smith-Fernandez fight was also canceled, Dixon vs. Harper was shifted to the Copper Box Arena in London, headlining the card alongside Fisher vs. Rudenko. With Fisher now out due to injury, the all-British world title showdown will take center stage in Sheffield.
Warrington’s Rhiannon Dixon (10-0, 1 KOs) will make the first defense of her WBO lightweight title. The undefeated 29-year-old southpaw claimed the belt in April with a unanimous decision victory over Karen Elizabeth Carabajal in Manchester. Her opponent, Doncaster’s Terri Harper (14-2-2, 6 KOs), a former two-division world champion, is aiming to become a three-division world champion after a tough loss to Sandy Ryan in March.
The co-feature on the card is an all-British super bantamweight clash between Peter McGrail (9-1, 5 KOs) and Brad Foster (15-3-2, 5 KOs). The undercard also features lightweight Cameron Vuong (5-0, 3 KOs) taking on Joe Underwood Hughes (8-3, 1 KO), and George Liddard (8-0, 4 KOs) facing George Davey (9-1-1, 2 KOs) in a middleweight bout.
Additionally, the event will showcase rising talents such as middleweight Jimmy Sains (6-0, 6 KOs), super featherweight Giorgio Visioli (4-0, 3 KOs), lightweight Ibraheem Sulaimaan (4-0, 3 KOs), featherweight Brandon Scott (7-0, 1 KO), and super bantamweight Josh Babb (2-0).
