Fight Details

WBA #12 and WBO #14 ranked Derrieck “Pretty Boy” Cuevas (25-1-1, 17 KOs) of Puerto Rico is set to face local fan favorite Alberto “Metralleta” Mosquera (28-5-2, 16 KOs) in a 10-round main event at the Coliseo de Combates in Panama City, Panama.

The fight will air live on ESPN+ (USA & Canada) & ESPN Knockout.

Former WBA Fedelatin champion Cuevas, who also boasts a WBA regional belt, is set for an explosive performance. Cuevas showcased his immense power in a spectacular second-round knockout victory over once-beaten Cuban fighter Damian Rodriguez. His performance was nothing short of devastating, leaving no doubt about his skill and determination in the ring. “Mosquera likes to talk a lot. Me, on the other hand, I speak with my punches,” Cuevas stated.

In contrast, Mosquera, a seasoned veteran at age 36, is keen on proving his mettle in the division. “What we like about this fight is that a win gives me a world ranking again. Last fight after he knocked out my partner, I stepped in the ring to call him out because these are the types of challenges Metralleta likes,” noted Mosquera.

In his most recent fight on February 24, Mosquera displayed his prowess by securing a unanimous decision victory over the experienced journeyman, Leonardo Espinal. This win came after a challenging period of nearly eight months, during which Mosquera suffered a knockout loss to Diego Carmona.

In the co-main event, the spotlight will be on the vacant WBA Gold super middleweight title. Uwel Hernandez (15-1, 8 KOs), ranked #8 in the division, will go head-to-head against the skilled Argentine fighter, Rodolfo "Poroto" Juarez (21-8, 15 KOs), in an intense 12-round battle.

Also in this card, Panamanian junior flyweight contender Azael “Candelilla” Villar (19-2-3, 15 KOs) will face WBO #15 Gerardo “Cascabel” Zapata (14-1, 5 KOs) in a 10-round bout.

In his most recent fight on January 6, the 29-year-old Azael Villar suffered a setback when he was knocked out in the seventh round by the talented prospect Ayumu Hanada, who had only one loss on his record. This defeat put an end to Villar's impressive five-bout winning streak, highlighting the challenging nature of the contest. Despite the setback, Villar's determination and skill in the ring remain evident, and he will undoubtedly strive to bounce back stronger in future fights.

Starting the telecast with a bang, WBC Fecarbox light heavyweight champion Yunior "Bronco Man" Menendez (7-0, 6 KOs), originally from Cuba and now residing in Panama City, will step into the ring to face a formidable challenge. His opponent, Ricardo "Bam Bam" Hernandez (2-2-1, 2 KOs), hailing from Mexico City, is eager to prove his mettle over 8 rounds.
