Puerto Rico’s unbeaten WBO 105-pound champion, Wilfredo "Bimbito" Collazo (9-0, 7 KOs), is set to defend his title against Nicaragua’s Gerardo Zapata (14-1-1, 5 KOs) on June 7. The bout will headline a DAZN show from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York, coinciding with the annual Hall of Fame weekend, just east of the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota.

Collazo, ranked No. 2 at 105 by The Ring, is riding a wave of success having won all three of his major title fights by stoppage. His latest defense was a third-round knockout of Reyneris Gutierrez on January 27 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Zapata is eager for his shot at glory after being denied a title fight last fall. The 29-year-old was scheduled to face WBO 108-pound champion Jonathan ‘Bomba’ Gonzalez on October 27 in Managua, but Gonzalez fell ill during fight week, and the bout was canceled. Zapata, who last fought to a draw against Azael Villar in August, now gets a second chance at a major title, albeit dropping down in weight for this opportunity.
