Former welterweight world champion Luis Collazo (39-8, 20 KOs) comes back to the boxing ring to face Angel “Relampago” Ruiz (17-2-1, 12 KOs) at the Probox Event Center in Plant City, Florida on ProBox TV.
Over the course of his 19-year professional boxing career, Luis Collazo made a name for himself with notable victories and world title achievements. Beginning with his impressive debut win against Jose Maldonado in 2000 at just 19 years old, Collazo went on to dominate his early career, amassing a 14-fight win streak. At 23, he clinched the welterweight WBA Regular title in a thrilling split-decision victory over Jose Antonio Rivera. Despite eight losses, including three in title bouts, Collazo’s fierce determination and memorable fights against the likes of Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Sammy Vasquez Jr., and David Gogichaishvili have solidified his legacy in the boxing world.
His opponent, Ruiz, boasts an impressive six-year professional journey. Dominating the ring with a victorious streak in the first 16 face-offs, his career was momentarily shaken by a jaw-dropping, second-round knockout at the hands of Javier Flores in October 2019. However, the resilient Ruiz made a triumphant return in April 2021, masterfully outmaneuvering then-undefeated Bobirzhan Mominov. Over eight thrilling rounds, he secured a decisive win on a national broadcast, further solidifying his reputation as a formidable contender.
In the co-main event, Vadim Musaev (5-0, 4 KOs), of Miami, Florida, will take on fellow undefeated Martín Álvarez (7-0, 6 KOs) of Los Mochis, Mexico in a 6-round welterweight bout.
