Ramon Cardenas will make his return to the ring on December 19 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, headlining a ProBox TV event streamed on YouTube. The San Antonio native faces Mexico’s Erik Robles in his first fight since his gallant but losing effort against Naoya Inoue earlier this year.
Cardenas (26-2, 14 KOs) became one of boxing’s most inspiring stories of 2025 after rising from cab driver to world title challenger. In May, he shocked the boxing world by flooring Inoue with a left hook in the second round of their undisputed junior featherweight clash at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. Though ultimately stopped in the eighth, Cardenas earned widespread respect for his grit and willingness to trade with one of the sport’s most feared champions.
Originally targeting Junto Nakatani for December, Cardenas will instead meet the battle-tested Robles (16-3, 10 KOs), a 25-year-old from Tijuana. Robles has struggled for consistency in recent bouts, losing two of his last three, including a second-round stoppage to Liam Davies and a unanimous decision defeat to Jesus Eduardo Arechiga Valdez.
The undercard will showcase several rising talents. Brazilian Olympic gold medalist Hebert Conceição (9-0, 5 KOs) meets Paul Kroll (12-0-2, 8 KOs) in a super middleweight bout, while Mykquan Williams (22-1-2, 11 KOs) takes on Jair Valtierra (18-3, 9 KOs) at junior welterweight. In a middleweight matchup, Marques Valle (11-1, 8 KOs) battles Joeshon James (9-1-2, 5 KOs).
