Deonte Brown will defend his WBA Continental Americas super featherweight title against Yohan Vasquez on Friday, May 29, at Archer Music Hall in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Brown (17-0, 11 KOs) enters unbeaten and will be headlining Red Owl Boxing’s Boxfest XVIII. The 30-year-old southpaw is coming off a unanimous decision win over Grimardi Machuca, where he used his jab and footwork to control the fight.
Vasquez (26-6, 21 KOs) brings a much heavier knockout threat into the matchup. The Dominican-born fighter, now based in the Bronx, has stopped more than 80 percent of his opponents and represents Brown’s biggest test so far.
Red Owl Boxing CEO Greg Bloom called the matchup “a very challenging task” for Brown, who will need to protect his perfect record against a dangerous puncher.
In the co-main event, Nikoloz Sekniashvili (10-2, 7 KOs) faces Ivan Dancha (6-1, 3 KOs) in an eight-round middleweight bout. Sekniashvili is looking for a third straight win, while Dancha enters chasing his fourth consecutive victory.
The card will also feature unbeaten Allentown prospects Ruben Rodriguez (6-0, 6 KOs) against Corey Grant (0-2-2, 0 KOs), and Gustavo Morales (4-0, 3 KOs) against Travis Floyd (4-19-2, 1 KO). The prelims will stream on Red Owl Boxing’s YouTube channel before the main card airs on DAZN.
