Undefeated junior lightweight Deonte Brown will face Venezuela’s Grimardi Machuca in the 10-round main event of Boxfest XVI on October 10 at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. The event, promoted by Red Owl Boxing and Bash Boxing, will be streamed live on DAZN.
Brown (16-0, 11 KOs), a 25-year-old prospect from Morgan City, Louisiana, is trained by Chelo Betancourt in New York and continues to build momentum after a dominant win over Dennis Contreras in May. That victory, a shutout over eight rounds, ended Brown’s streak of five consecutive knockouts and showcased his improving discipline and ring control.

Machuca (17-2, 14 KOs), known for his punching power, looks to rebound after dropping two straight decisions. Despite recent setbacks, the Venezuelan remains a dangerous threat capable of testing Brown’s composure in just the second 10-rounder of his career.
In the co-feature, Encino’s Saul “The Beast” Sanchez (21-4, 12 KOs) will get a rematch against Puerto Rico’s Edwin Rodriguez (12-9-2, 5 KOs), who defeated him in 2019. The eight-round bantamweight bout offers Sanchez a shot at redemption after a year away from the ring.
The undercard will also feature the professional debut of 2020 U.S. Olympian Rashida Ellis of Lynn, Massachusetts. Ellis will face seasoned contender Maria Salinas (27-12-6, 7 KOs) of Mexico in a six-round featherweight bout.
