Universal Promotions is set to electrify the boxing scene with “UP Boxing Series: Return of The Magic” on Saturday, February 24, at the Samuel “Sammy” Rodríguez Coliseum in Aguas Buenas. This event marks the much-anticipated comeback of local boxing sensation, Yomar “The Magic” Alamo (20-2-1, 12 KOs), to his hometown, promising a night filled with high-octane boxing action.
Javier Bustillo, President of Universal Promotions, expressed excitement about bringing boxing back to Aguas Buenas, a city renowned for its boxing heritage. The event, supported by Mayor Karina Nieves Serrano, aims to showcase the best of Puerto Rican boxing across 12 thrilling bouts. Alamo, making a return after a seven-year hiatus from fighting in Puerto Rico, will take on the Dominican challenger Adriano Ramírez (13-5, 8 KOs) in an eight-round super lightweight division clash. Alamo's return is not just a homecoming but a mission to reestablish himself as a contender for world championship glory.
Alamo shared his enthusiasm for fighting in front of his hometown crowd and promised a more aggressive approach under the guidance of Alex Caraballo. “This is a new beginning... You will see a much more aggressive Yomar Alamo,” he stated, highlighting his revamped strategy and undiminished ambition.
The event also features 140-pound prospect Omar “The New Era” Rosario (11-1, 3 KOs), looking to bounce back from his first professional loss, as he faces Alberto Candelaria (5-3-2, 4 KOs) in a six-round bout. Rosario is eager to demonstrate resilience and his continued quest for world championship status.
Adding to the excitement, Yamitt “El Olimpico” Ponce (7-0, 6 KOs) is set to battle Emmanuel “Tito” Morales (10-6, 6 KOs) in a super featherweight showdown expected to deliver non-stop action.
