Bryan Acosta will attempt to rebuild momentum in 2026 when he faces Ronny Rios on March 28 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. The bout will headline a card streaming on ProBox TV.
The 27-year-old Acosta endured a difficult 2025 campaign. In February, the Hermosillo native suffered the first loss of his professional career, dropping a close unanimous decision to Ramon Cardenas. While the defeat stung, Cardenas later pushed undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya Inoue in a competitive fight.
Acosta’s attempt to bounce back later in the year also fell short. In September, he faced fringe featherweight contender Sulaiman Segawa but was stopped in the seventh round, leaving him with a 20-2 (8 KOs) record heading into his 2026 return.
Standing across the ring will be veteran contender Ronny Rios, 34-5 (17 KOs), a 36-year-old from Santa Ana, California. Rios has challenged for world titles three times, first losing a decision to Rey Vargas in 2017 and then being stopped in the final round by Murodjon Akhmadaliev in 2022.
Rios later returned from a lengthy layoff in April 2024, knocking out Nicolas Polanco in five rounds before earning another title opportunity against Nick Ball. That bout ended in a tenth-round stoppage after Rios was knocked down three times. When he meets Acosta, Rios will be entering the ring after nearly 18 months away from competition.
