Biography

Zak Chelli is an English professional boxer competing in the super-middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions. Fighting out of London, England, Chelli uses an orthodox stance and stands approximately 6 ft tall. Since turning professional in 2017, he has captured multiple domestic and regional titles, including the British, Commonwealth, English, and WBA Continental super-middleweight championships, as well as the English light-heavyweight title.

Chelli made his professional debut at London’s famous York Hall in February 2017, stopping Jacob Lucas in the third round. He quickly established himself as one of Britain’s promising young prospects and won his first professional title in 2019, defeating Jimmy Smith by unanimous decision for the vacant Southern Area super-middleweight title.

A major breakthrough came in 2020, when Chelli won the Boxxer VII tournament after victories over Vladimir Georgiev and Mike McGoldrick. The tournament triumph earned him increased exposure and a promotional contract with Boxxer. Around the same time, Chelli balanced his boxing career with academics and work, having earned a university degree in business, management, and marketing from the University of Surrey, while also working as a substitute teacher during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

In June 2022, Chelli captured the English super-middleweight title with a unanimous decision win over Germaine Brown. He continued his rise the following year by defeating highly regarded American contender Anthony Sims Jr. to claim the WBA Continental super-middleweight title, arguably one of the best victories of his career. However, his momentum was interrupted in July 2023 when he lost the English title to Mark Jeffers by unanimous decision.

Chelli rebounded strongly in 2024, producing a career-best performance to defeat Jack Cullen and win the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight titles. Later that year, he lost those belts to unbeaten contender Callum Simpson, suffering another unanimous decision defeat in a competitive domestic clash.

After more than ten months away from the ring, Chelli returned in June 2025 and moved up to light-heavyweight, where he faced Adam Hepple for the vacant English light-heavyweight title. Ahead on the scorecards and having already scored a knockdown earlier in the bout, Chelli secured a dramatic tenth-round knockout victory with a body shot to become a champion in a second weight division.
