Biography

Thammanoon Niyomtrong (born 20 September 1990), better known by his ring name Knockout CP Freshmart, is a Thai professional boxer and former Muay Thai champion. Competing primarily in the mini-flyweight division, he is a former long-reigning WBA champion, having first captured the interim belt in 2014 before going on to hold the full and Super versions of the title from 2016 until 2024.

Before transitioning to boxing, Niyomtrong fought under the names Newlukrak Pagonponsurin and Newlukrak Sor Kattika in Muay Thai, where he became a Rajadamnern Stadium and Lumpinee Stadium champion at 105 lbs. His Muay Thai pedigree and amateur boxing background provided a strong foundation for his professional career, where he signed with CP Freshmart, a Thai convenience store chain, and quickly established himself as one of the top fighters in his division.

Niyomtrong captured his first major world title in June 2016, defeating Byron Rojas for the WBA mini-flyweight championship. He would go on to defend the belt an impressive 11 times, including victories over respected contenders such as Rey Loreto, Toto Landero, and long-reigning champion Wanheng Menayothin. His reign established him as one of the most dominant Thai champions of his generation, though his defensive and clinch-heavy style often drew mixed reviews from fans and analysts.

In November 2024, Knockout faced Puerto Rican rising star Oscar Collazo in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in a high-profile unification bout for the WBA, WBO, and The Ring mini-flyweight titles. He suffered his first professional defeat via seventh-round stoppage, ending his unbeaten run. Following the loss, Niyomtrong rebounded with consecutive wins in 2025, including a victory over Roland Toyogon to claim the WBC Asia mini-flyweight title, signaling his intention to remain active on the world stage despite his first setback.
