Biography
Sean “Silky” Hemphill is a professional boxer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He started competing as an amateur at 15 after being introduced to boxing by his father, Steven “Spyder” Hemphill, a two-time world kickboxing champion and experienced martial artist. Sean quickly showed promise, winning national amateur titles and earning a place on the USA Boxing National Team.
Hemphill turned professional in 2019 after building a strong amateur background and set his sights on becoming a world champion. His early years in the sport were shaped by both success and adversity, including the loss of his mother in 2020. Despite the setbacks, he continued to develop his career and establish himself as a competitive professional.
Since turning professional, Hemphill has competed across the middleweight and light heavyweight divisions, earning notable wins over Jeyson Minda, Christian Thomas, Bryant McClain, Ryan Adams and Mark Jeffers. He suffered his first professional defeat against David Stevens in 2023 and later dropped a decision to William Scull in 2024. Hemphill returned with several wins before suffering a narrow split-decision loss to Ty Mitchell in August 2025.
Now competing at light heavyweight, Hemphill brings an experienced amateur background and nearly seven years of professional experience into a new chapter of his career. Growing up around his father's fighting career helped shape his approach to the sport, while his own journey has been defined by discipline, resilience and a desire to compete at the highest level.
