Ryosuke Nishida

Ryosuke Nishida, born on August 7, 1996, in Kashiba, Nara, Japan, is a southpaw boxer who has swiftly ascended the bantamweight ranks. After a successful amateur career, including a national high school championship, Nishida turned professional in 2019. He made an immediate impact, securing his first three victories, which set the stage for a significant bout against former WBC flyweight champion Daigo Higa in April 2021. Nishida won by unanimous decision, claiming the WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight title and establishing himself as a rising star in Japanese boxing.

Continuing his momentum, Nishida defended his regional title three times, showcasing his technical prowess and ring intelligence. His victories over Tetsuro Ohashi, Aljum Pelesio, and Songsaeng Phoyaem were all unanimous decisions, highlighting his consistency and discipline in the ring. These performances earned him a title eliminator against Christian Medina Jimenez in August 2023, which he won convincingly, positioning him for a world title opportunity.

On May 4, 2024, Nishida faced two-time world champion Emmanuel Rodríguez for the IBF bantamweight title at the EDION Arena in Osaka. Demonstrating his skill and composure, Nishida secured a unanimous decision victory, with scores of 117–110 and 115–112 twice, becoming the new IBF bantamweight champion. He successfully defended his title on December 15, 2024, against Anuchai Donsua, delivering a seventh-round body-shot knockout in Osaka.
