Biography
Ricardo Adán Salas Rodríguez is a Mexican professional boxer competing in the welterweight division. Fighting under the nickname “Magic Man,” Salas is an orthodox boxer from Mexico City, Mexico, standing 5 ft 7 in with a 70½-inch reach.
Salas built his early career through an active schedule across Mexico, Canada, and Jamaica, earning valuable experience against a variety of opposition. After suffering a narrow split-decision defeat to Abraham Juarez Ramirez in 2018, he rebounded strongly with a series of victories that showcased both his power and durability. Wins over fighters such as Richard Holmes, Stephane Malenou, and Ricardo Banuelos Cernas helped establish him as a promising contender in the regional welterweight scene.
His first major setback at title level came in 2021, when he dropped a close split decision to the undefeated Julio Luna Avila in a bout for the vacant NABA welterweight title. Rather than stall his momentum, the loss appeared to sharpen his development. Salas returned with a string of dominant performances, defeating opponents including Flavio Hernandez Valverde, Ivan Cortes Lopez, and Jose Anastacio Gutierrez Bolanos, many by stoppage.
Between 2023 and 2025, Salas continued climbing the rankings while facing increasingly difficult opposition. He fought to draws against respected contenders Ruben Eduardo Aguilar and Chester Parada Torales, while securing important victories over Kent Cruz, Jesus Mauricio Estrada Sanchez, and former world title challenger Roiman Villa, whom he dramatically knocked out in the third round in Las Vegas. He also captured regional titles, including the IBF North American welterweight title and the WBC FECOMBOX welterweight championship, significantly boosting his standing in the division.
Salas has carried that momentum into 2026, recording consecutive stoppage victories over Bryan Eduardo Carrillo Feliciano and Jesus Saracho. Now ranked among the leading Mexican welterweights and inside the upper tier of the global rankings, the 27-year-old continues to emerge as a serious contender at 147 pounds.
