Biography
Peter Kadiru is a German professional heavyweight boxer and one of the country's most accomplished amateur products of the past decade. Born on 24 June 1997 in Hamburg, Germany, Kadiru stands 6 ft 4 in (194 cm) and fights from an orthodox stance. He is a former German heavyweight champion, WBC Youth heavyweight champion, and IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight champion.
Before entering the professional ranks, Kadiru enjoyed an outstanding amateur career, winning numerous international titles. He captured gold medals at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, the 2014 and 2015 European Youth Championships, and the 2017 European U22 Championships, while also claiming the 2017 German national super-heavyweight title. His amateur achievements established him as one of Germany's premier heavyweight prospects.
Kadiru made his professional debut in March 2019 and steadily progressed through the domestic ranks. In January 2020, he won his first professional title by stopping Tomas Salek in the sixth round to capture the vacant WBC Youth heavyweight championship. Later that year, he added the German heavyweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Roman Gorst, successfully defending the belt against Boris Estenfelder in 2021.
His unbeaten run ended in November 2022, when Argentina's Marcos Antonio Aumada scored a shocking first-round knockout, handing Kadiru the first defeat of his professional career. Rather than derail his progress, the setback proved to be a turning point, as he returned with a series of convincing victories.
Kadiru recorded the biggest win of his career in March 2024, defeating former WBO cruiserweight world champion Victor Emilio RamÃrez by eighth-round retirement to win the vacant IBF Inter-Continental heavyweight title. He successfully defended the belt later that year with a fifth-round stoppage of Djuar El Scheich, before extending his winning streak with victories over Osasu Otobo, Selcuk Tezer, Mauricio Nicolas Barragan, and Senad Gashi.
In July 2026, Kadiru received the biggest opportunity of his career when he was selected as a late replacement for Tony Yoka to challenge newly elevated WBA heavyweight world champion Murat Gassiev. The bout marked Kadiru's first world title challenge and represented a significant step up to the elite level of the heavyweight division.
