Mark Jeffers

Mark Jeffers is a professional boxer from Chorley, Lancashire, who began his sporting life with ambitions of becoming a footballer. He was scouted by Preston North End as a youngster and had several successful trials with the club, but ultimately chose boxing after discovering that he enjoyed the sport more. Jeffers first started boxing at the age of 10 as a way to keep fit for football, but winning the English Championship at 12 convinced him to focus seriously on boxing.

Jeffers enjoyed a successful amateur career, winning two national titles and compiling a 27-4 record with 10 knockouts. One of his most notable amateur stoppages came with a body shot that ended a bout in just six seconds. He turned professional in 2016 and quickly built a strong record, developing a reputation for his speed, power and defensive ability.

Training at Jennings Gym under Michael Jennings, Jeffers attracted praise from experienced professionals including former world champion Anthony Crolla, who highlighted his maturity and ability to do the right things at the right time. In January 2019, Jeffers won his first professional title by stopping Ben Thomas in the fourth round to claim the Central Area super-middleweight championship.

Despite being one of the younger fighters in his division, Jeffers was already being compared with fellow Lancashire star Ricky Hatton during the early stages of his career. A strong local following in Chorley and Manchester has remained an important part of his career, with family, friends and supporters regularly traveling to his fights. Outside boxing, Jeffers has also remained involved in sport, having played cricket and continued to maintain close ties to his hometown.
