Biography
Lewis Crocker, nicknamed “The Croc,” is a professional boxer from Belfast, Northern Ireland, born on January 6, 1997. He stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall. Crocker began training at the Immaculata Boxing Club when he was seven years old. His sister, Alanna Nihell, played a significant role in his boxing journey; she fought Katie Taylor in Ireland’s first officially sanctioned female bout in 2001, which inspired Crocker’s aspirations in the sport.
Crocker had a distinguished amateur career, competing in 97 bouts and securing 90 victories. He earned a bronze medal at the 2011 European Schoolboy Championships in Grozny, Russia, while representing Ireland. Throughout his amateur tenure, he won seven All-Ireland junior titles and represented Ireland in various international competitions, including the European Youth Championships in 2012 and the World Junior Championships in 2013. Notably, he holds the record for the quickest knockout in Irish amateur boxing history, which he achieved in under 12 seconds, earning the 2015 Irish Boxing Knockout of the Year award.
Crocker made his professional debut on March 10, 2017, with a first-round technical knockout against Ferenc Jarko at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast. He continued his rise in the sport by capturing the WBO European welterweight title in August 2020, following a seventh-round TKO victory over Louis Greene. In December 2023, he claimed the WBA Continental European welterweight title by defeating Tyrone McKenna via unanimous decision at the SSE Arena in Belfast. On March 1, 2025, Crocker faced Paddy Donovan in an IBF welterweight title eliminator at the SSE Arena. The bout ended controversially in the eighth round when Donovan was disqualified for delivering a punch after the bell, marking Crocker’s 21st consecutive victory.
Training under coach Billy Nelson for his recent fights, Crocker continues to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a world champion, drawing inspiration from his family’s boxing background and the rich boxing culture of Belfast.
Technical Overview
Lewis Crocker is a fighter known for his “Killer Croc” mentality Crocker’s ability to control the center of the ring is one of his strongest attributes. He presses forward with his powerful jab, dictating the pace of the fight while looking for opportunities to land his devastating right hand. He’s known for throwing flurries that overwhelm his opponents, keeping them on the back foot and constantly guessing what’s coming next. His punches come in quick succession, cutting off the ring and limiting his opponent’s movement. This is where his true strength lies: in his ability to trap opponents in tight spaces and unleash his power.
When the fight does go into the clinch, Crocker is no stranger to controlling the action. His wrestling ability in close quarters allows him to push his opponents around, using his strength to neutralize their offense. Whether he’s pushing his opponent off, creating distance for his own shots, or using the clinch to reset, Crocker’s physicality shines through. With his killer instinct.
