Biography
Khalil Coe, known by his ring moniker "Big Steppa," is an American professional boxer competing in the light-heavyweight division. Born on September 8, 1996, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Coe's early exposure to the sport was influenced by his upbringing in a challenging environment, prompting his mother to enroll him in boxing to channel his energy positively. Standing at 5 feet 10 inches tall and fighting in an orthodox stance, Coe has developed a reputation for his aggressive style and punching power.
Coe's amateur career was marked by significant achievements, most notably his victory at the Chemistry Cup in Germany, where he became the first boxer to stop two-time Olympic gold medalist Julio César La Cruz. Despite his success, Coe was unable to qualify for the Olympics due to a criminal record, leading him to transition into the professional ranks. He made his professional debut on May 29, 2021, securing a second-round knockout against Nathaniel Tadd. After a draw in his second bout, Coe embarked on a winning streak, including a notable second-round TKO over previously undefeated Gerardo Osuna in February 2024.
In July 2024, Coe captured the vacant WBC-USNBC light heavyweight title with a second-round TKO over Kwame Ritter. However, his momentum was halted in November 2024 when he suffered his first professional loss, a ninth-round TKO to Manuel Gallegos, resulting in the loss of his title.
