Biography

Jack Massey is an English professional boxer competing in the cruiserweight division. Nicknamed “One Smack,” Massey was born in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, England, and has established himself as one of Britain’s leading cruiserweights.

Massey enjoyed an undefeated start to his professional career, winning his first 16 consecutive fights while steadily collecting regional honors. During this run, he captured titles including the WBC Silver Youth cruiserweight championship, the British Classic Challenge title, and the International Classic Challenge title. Victories over opponents such as Ian Tims, Jiri Svacina, and Gogita Gorgiladze helped establish him as a rising contender on the British scene.

His first major setback came in December 2019, when he challenged Richard Riakporhe for the vacant British cruiserweight title and lost by unanimous decision. Rather than derailing his progress, the defeat motivated Massey to rebuild, and he returned with victories over Mohammad Ali Bayat Farid, Engin Karakaplan, and Bilal Laggoune. His knockout win over Laggoune earned him the IBO cruiserweight title, while his stoppage of Karakaplan secured the IBF European cruiserweight championship.

In 2023, Massey stepped up in weight to face former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker, suffering a decision loss but gaining valuable experience at world level. He responded impressively in 2024, first stopping Steve Eloundou Ntere before scoring the biggest victory of his career against Isaac Chamberlain, winning by unanimous decision to capture both the European and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles.

That success earned Massey a shot at unified cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia in October 2024. Challenging for the IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight titles in Saudi Arabia, Massey fought bravely but was stopped in the sixth round. Despite the defeat, he proved he belonged on the world stage against one of boxing’s elite champions.

After more than a year out of the ring, Massey returned in November 2025 with a fourth-round stoppage victory over Ivan Gabriel Garcia, improving his record to 23–3.
