Biography
Daud “Boxing Senator” Yordan, born June 10, 1987, is an Indonesian professional boxer who has held multiple regional and world titles across the featherweight, lightweight, and super lightweight divisions. Known for his aggressive style and powerful punching ability, Yordan is a former IBO Featherweight and Lightweight Champion. Over the years, he has built a reputation as one of Indonesia’s most accomplished boxers, representing his country on the international stage.
Born in Ketapang, West Borneo, Indonesia, Yordan comes from a mixed Chinese-Dayak heritage. He grew up in a large family and developed an early passion for boxing. His Cuban trainer, Carlos Jesus Penate Torres, gave him the nickname “Cino” (Chino in Spanish), which has stuck with him throughout his career.
Yordan’s professional career began with an impressive 23-fight winning streak, earning him recognition both nationally and internationally. His breakthrough moment came when he faced former world champion Robert Guerrero in 2009 on HBO, though the fight ended in a no contest due to an accidental head clash. He later challenged legendary Indonesian fighter Chris John for the WBA Featherweight title in 2011 but fell short via unanimous decision. Undeterred, he captured the IBO Featherweight title in 2012 before moving up to lightweight, where he won the IBO Lightweight championship in 2013. His victories over Pavel Malikov, Michael Mokoena, and Rachata Khaophimai further solidified his status as a formidable contender. Despite a setback against Anthony Crolla in 2018, Yordan has continued to compete at a high level, winning the WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver Super Lightweight title and defending it successfully.
