Biography

Christopher Guerrero is a Canadian professional boxer competing in the welterweight division. Nicknamed “Machine Gun,” Guerrero was born in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and now fights out of Montreal, Quebec. Standing 5 ft 8 in (173 cm), he has emerged as one of Canada's fastest-rising prospects since turning professional in January 2021.

Guerrero discovered boxing as a child after his father, Oscar Guerrero, brought him to a gym to learn self-defense. Despite considering walking away from the sport after winning his first Canadian amateur title, the encouragement of his mother, Rosemary, convinced him to continue pursuing his dream. A two-time Canadian amateur champion, Guerrero eventually signed with Eye of the Tiger Management in 2020, making his professional debut in Mexico before relocating his career to Canada.

Initially trained by respected coach Mike Moffa, Guerrero later transitioned to Giuseppe Moffa, with whom he has enjoyed rapid development. Training camps in Cuba and Philadelphia, including valuable sparring sessions with world champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis, helped elevate his skill set. Between 2022 and 2024, Guerrero established himself as one of Canada's brightest young talents, putting together an impressive streak of stoppage victories over opponents such as Julian Mendo Salmoran, Edwin Villarreal Flores, Jose Lopez, Kenny Larson, and Courtney Pennington.

Guerrero reached another level in 2025, successfully transitioning into championship-level competition. After stopping Dennis Dauti in his first scheduled ten-round contest, he captured the vacant WBC Continental Americas welterweight title with a dominant unanimous decision over dangerous Mexican puncher Oliver Quintana Sanchez. He successfully defended the belt with an impressive tenth-round stoppage of experienced French contender Sandy Messaoud, before outboxing unbeaten Colombian Williams Andres Herrera over ten rounds to retain the regional championship and further improve his standing in the world rankings.
