Biography
Alejandro Jose Ortiz (born July 12, 2001) is a Venezuelan professional boxer who competes in the middleweight division. Nicknamed “El Venado,” Ortiz is from Distrito Capital, Venezuela, and fights out of Catia, Caracas. An orthodox boxer standing around 5-foot-9, he began his professional career in September 2019 and quickly established himself as a heavy-handed fighter.
Ortiz made his professional debut with a second-round stoppage of Luis Cabrera and went on to build an unbeaten record largely while competing in Venezuela. His rise was defined by a remarkable run of stoppage victories, including wins over Adrian Perez, Esteban Alseco, Jose Rivas, Jasond Prado, Jean Carlos Prada and Daniel Briceno. In November 2023, Ortiz also showed he could go the distance when he defeated Yeferson Hernandez by unanimous decision over ten rounds.
After compiling 25 consecutive victories, Ortiz stepped up internationally against unbeaten French prospect Bakary Samake in Levallois-Perret, France, on October 25, 2025. Ortiz suffered the first defeat of his professional career when Samake stopped him in the fifth round.
Ortiz returned to action on March 28, 2026, stopping Wilman Contreras in the second round in Ciudad Caribia.
