Yordenis Ugas is set to come out of retirement and is targeting a return to the ring within the next one to three months.
The former welterweight titleholder, now 39, confirmed he is back in training and feels ready to compete again. “When they tell me to go, I will be ready,” Ugas said.
Ugas last fought in September 2023, when he suffered a defeat to Mario Barrios. Prior to that, he lost his WBC title to Errol Spence Jr. in 2022.
One of the standout moments of his career came in 2021, when he defeated Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision, which led to Pacquiao's stepping away from the sport at the time. Also, Ugas previously challenged Shawn Porter for a world title in 2017, losing a close split decision.
The Cuban veteran confirmed that his comeback will take place under the Premier Boxing Champions banner as he prepares for a return later this year.
