Xander Zayas believes he has spotted clear weaknesses in Jaron “Boots” Ennis ahead of their June 27 fight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Zayas will defend his WBA and WBO super welterweight titles against Ennis, who enters as the betting favorite despite moving into the champion’s division. But Zayas is not buying the idea that Boots has a major athletic edge.

“I do the same things he does,” Zayas said. “I take angles. I’m way better than him, movement-wise. My jab is good. My combinations, my counter punching.”

When asked where Ennis can be exposed, Zayas pointed straight to his feet and body defense. “His feet,” Zayas said. “He’s flatfooted and he doesn’t like getting hit to the body that much.”

The Puerto Rican champion has embraced the underdog role and believes his fundamentals, movement and ring IQ are being overlooked, so for him, this fight is about proving he is the more complete fighter.
