Unbeaten fighters Xander Zayas and Emiliano Vargas appeared during Bad Bunny’s performance at Super Bowl LX on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Unified junior middleweight champion Zayas and undefeated junior welterweight prospect Vargas emerged on the massive stage wearing the colors of their ancestral homelands, Puerto Rico and Mexico, punching gloves as Bad Bunny walked beneath them while performing his hit song “Tití Me Preguntó.”
Promoter Bob Arum praised the moment, calling it a rare opportunity for two rising stars. “It was a very special moment to see two of our young stars, Xander Zayas and Emiliano Fernando Vargas, make appearances during Bad Bunny’s performance,” Arum said. “The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest stages in the world, and opportunities like this help raise their profiles not just within boxing, but beyond the sport as well.”
Zayas’ appearance carried added significance given his existing ties to the Puerto Rican superstar. The 23-year-old titleholder is signed with Bad Bunny’s marketing firm, Rimas Sports, and is coming off a split-decision victory over Abass Baraou on January 31 in San Juan, which unified the WBA and WBO belts at 154lbs. Vargas, meanwhile, continues his rapid rise, entering the spotlight ahead of his February 28 bout against Agustin Quintana in Glendale, Arizona.
