Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has announced an exciting rematch in British boxing between Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington, scheduled for May 18th in the United Kingdom. This bout follows their dramatic first encounter, which ended in a sensational victory for Wood.

Last October, Leigh Wood achieved a stunning come-from-behind technical knockout against Josh Warrington, overcoming a points deficit on all three scorecards. Despite being outlanded by Warrington, Wood’s powerful combination in the seventh round turned the tide and secured him a thrilling win.

The upcoming rematch offers Warrington, a two-time featherweight champion, an opportunity to bounce back. His recent record of 1-3-1 in the last five fights indicates a career at a crossroads, and this match could be pivotal for his future in the sport.

Wood, on the other hand, vacated the WBA featherweight title he won from Mauricio Lara last year, expressing an interest in moving up to 130 pounds. However, he acknowledges that there’s still some “unfinished business” with Warrington, who has shown willingness to have the rematch at the 130-pound weight class.
