On Saturday night at Mexico City’s Big Bola Casino, fans were treated to a DAZN PPV event co-promoted by Fernando Beltran, Floyd Mayweather, and Richard Schaefer. The main attraction was an 8×2 round rematch exhibition between former multi-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and John Gotti III. The bout, however, failed to deliver much excitement for the audience. The match featured little action, with Gotti barely throwing any punches while Mayweather landed a few jabs here and there. By the eighth and final round, the fans were left booing, disappointed by the performance from both fighters.

In another exhibition bout, former super welterweight champion Victor Ortiz faced Rodrigo Cordia over 8×2 rounds. The first four rounds offered some action, with both southpaws engaging the crowd. However, the excitement waned in the latter half of the fight as the pace slowed down, leaving fans wanting more.

The co-feature of the night saw WBC Silver Super Bantamweight champion Alan Picasso take on Azat Hovhannisyan in a 12-round battle. Despite some delays due to Picasso’s entourage holding up the proceedings, the fight itself was intense. Picasso started strong, out-landing Hovhannisyan in the early rounds. Hovhannisyan fought back, even landing a flurry of punches in the final seconds of the ninth round. The bout ended with Picasso winning by a wide margin on the scorecards, though some of the scores seemed generous.

In a super middleweight clash, Louis “Zurdo” Rodriguez faced Cesar Vaca in a 10-round contest. Rodriguez pursued Vaca around the ring but struggled to land significant blows. As the fight progressed, Vaca began to pick Rodriguez apart, particularly in the final round, leading to a majority decision victory for Vaca.

Lightweight prospect Curmel Melton continued his winning streak with a first-round stoppage of Victor Vazquez. Melton dropped Vazquez early with a left hook followed by three punches to the chin, forcing the referee to wave off the fight at just 55 seconds into the round.

Aaron Silva, competing in the silver middleweight division, secured a third-round stoppage over late substitute Alberto “Pollo” Artiga. Silva opened a cut on Artiga’s nose in the first round and finished the job in the third, landing three unanswered punches that led the referee to call a halt.

In a light flyweight bout, Arlen Sanchez, a late substitute, went the distance with Cecilia Rodriguez over 8×2 competitive rounds. Despite a strong effort, Sanchez was outworked by Rodriguez in the later rounds, leading to a unanimous decision victory for Rodriguez.
