Tyson Fury weighs lighter than his opponent for first time in 15 years

Tyson Fury weighed less than an opponent for the first time in exactly 15 years ahead of his heavyweight fight with Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand.

Fury came in at 18st 13lb (120kg), while Wach weighed 20st 11lb (132kg), leaving the former heavyweight champion 26lbs lighter than the veteran Pole.

“I’m Mr Slim now,” Fury said. “I’m delighted to be here and there are fans here from all over the world.”

It is only the fourth time across Fury’s 38-fight professional career that he has weighed less than his opponent. The previous occasion came against Derek Chisora in 2011.

Victory would keep Fury on course for the long-awaited Anthony Joshua fight, provided Joshua defeats Kristian Prenga one day later. However, Fury insisted he is not relying on that matchup and wants to remain active.

“I’m not banking on any fight that may or may not happen,” Fury said. “I want to keep busy.”
