Tyson Fury is looking at possible opponents for his planned August fight, with Andy Ruiz Jr. and Jarrell Miller among the names mentioned as he prepares for a proposed winter clash with Anthony Joshua.
Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, said Ruiz has been discussed but may not be ready in time. “Andy Ruiz has been mentioned,” Brown said. “I know Andy really well, I know his team and I'm going to have a chat with them... Whether Andy Ruiz can get ready that quickly, probably not. But he's somebody to look forward to in the future.”
Miller was also strongly considered, with Brown saying both sides were interested. “I tell you who was mentioned, vehemently, and that's Jarrell Miller. Tyson wanted to fight Jarrell Miller. We could have done the deal very quickly. Jarrell was up for it, Tyson was up for it.”
Brown added that Fury’s next opponent will not be a soft touch. “We'll get somebody and we'll decide who it's going to be. It won't be a big sausage, it will be a well-touted opponent.”
Joshua is also taking a warm-up fight, facing Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Saudi Arabia. If both men come through their interim bouts, Fury vs. Joshua remains targeted for later this year.
