Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh has revealed plans to meet with Terence Crawford in January to discuss potential fights for the undefeated WBA junior middleweight champion in 2025. Crawford, who is currently recovering from an injury, has been vocal about his desire to face unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Alalshikh hopes to bring this fight to fruition but acknowledges the complexities involved in making it happen.
"I think he’s injured now," Alalshikh told Fight Hub TV. "We were planning on having something with him. I will discuss with him maybe in January." Alalshikh met with Crawford recently and noted that the 37-year-old is in the early stages of rehabilitation and training. "He wants this fight [with Canelo], so why not? We will see in the next month or two months."
Crawford has consistently pushed for a showdown with Canelo, viewing it as a career-defining opportunity. However, if negotiations falter, other options could include unifications at junior middleweight against champions like Bakhram Murtazaliev or Sebastian Fundora.
While much remains uncertain, the potential for Crawford to face either Canelo or top-tier junior middleweights ensures that fans will have plenty to look forward to next year!
