Tim Bradley says he plans to buy the August 22 welterweight title fight between Rolly Romero and Teofimo Lopez, but does not believe the matchup offers enough value to justify its pay-per-view status.
The former two-division world champion expects many fans to watch the event illegally instead. “A lot of people gonna pirate this mug for real because I personally don’t think it’s pay-per-view worthy,” Bradley said.
He also questioned why Lopez has received another world title opportunity immediately after losing his previous fight. “Teo coming off a loss getting a title shot,” Bradley said. “Yeah, it’s boxing.”
Romero’s inactivity is another concern. The WBA welterweight champion has not fought since May 2025 and will return after roughly 15 months out of the ring.
Bradley said the layoff makes it difficult to know what version of Romero will appear in Las Vegas, whether it is the patient counterpuncher who beat Ryan Garcia or a more aggressive fighter relying on power.
Despite the criticism, Bradley will still purchase the event. The pressure is now on Romero and Lopez to prove that their fight belongs behind a paywall.
